Welcome to my little world! To know me is to know that I am but a simple human. I like a cup of coffee in one hand and a book in the other to start my mornings, Sunday afternoon naps with my cat Fynn, a post work run to clear my head, my homemade red sauce that I have perfected (even if it takes over 4 hours to cook), a PBR to wash down that bar hotdog that my friends told me was a good idea, and a glass of wine to act like I’m having intellectual conversations about empathy and its role in our lives.
I consider myself a collector of sorts. Some people call it clutter, but I call it knick-knacks and extensions of my personality arranged in controlled chaos. From books (I’m just getting back into reading, so excuse me if I sound unbearable), to wine (humble brag about my wine fridge), to art on my gallery wall, vintage tee’s and flare pants, precious moments (mainly like actual memories but I do have one of the little porcelain figurines), and all sorts of random shit that makes me feel like I’m a real person.
I know what you’re thinking, “Ok Evan we get it, performative male over here. Put down the matcha and tell us about your design work.” You know what I love most about graphic design (and art in general)? Having the privilege of being able to create something that can be an extension of someone’s thoughts. Something that puts thought into a visual medium, one that I consider one of our most important senses. We creatives get the opportunity to tell someone’s story. In order for this to be successful though, we have to use our greatest tool: empathy. We may not be able to feel exactly what someone else does, but we can try our best to understand it and learn with them along the way. We take on the important role of helping people put what’s in their head into something tangible, and I, for one, think that’s sick as hell. I could go on and on about how much I love art and design, but I will digress so you’re not stuck here listening to me brain dump.
Anyways, thank you for stopping by! It’s an honor to have someone peer into my processes and the work I’ve created. I hope you enjoy your time here, and remember to stay curious :)
